Bed bugs are flat, reddish brown, oval insects. They are 4 to 5 mm long and are swollen and red after a blood meal. They are wingless and cannot fly or jump. Since they have such flat bodies they can enter cracks and crevices easily.
Bed bugs only feed on blood and under the right cool conditions can survive several weeks or months without feeding. They also prefer to be active at night when the host is sleeping. The female bed bug can lay about 200 eggs in her lifetime, at a rate of 3 to 4 eggs per day. The eggs hatch in 6 to 17 days and have a sticky coating and are almost impossible to see on most surfaces.
The average adult bed bug can live for around 10 months, but are able to survive for over a year or more.
OUR PEST CONTROL PROCEDURES
The most effective method Absolute Pest Control uses to rid your home of bed bugs is a combination of insecticides and vacuum. We use a water based residual insecticide used in all the cracks and crevices of your home. The second is a dust insecticide that is placed into wall voids, outlets, entry points, and hiding places. Lastly, we also use a vacuum to collect visible evidence of the bed bugs.
Prior to our arrival we will send a preparation guide to help ensure that your home is ready to be properly treated. When the technician arrives for your appointment, they will first conduct a complete investigation. A full detailed report will be provided after the service.
The technician will then treat the entire home, focusing on the areas where you have noticed bed bugs the most. We will return and provide a follow up service 3 weeks later. After discussing with you the progress of our service treatment, the technician will review the space and may spray the perimeter or hot spots once again.
All the work we complete is crucial to achieving full control of your property and are noted in our service report. The service report and invoice are directly e-mailed to you from the technician prior to leaving the property. Our service is guaranteed for 3 months after the completion of the follow-up service appointment.
Please consult the Preparation Guide Lines for the Control of Bedbugs BEFORE treatment date.
